Set overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Manele Bay swimming pool offers an elegant alternative to the ocean and beach. The pool also offers two heated whirlpools, and there is plenty of poolside or cliffside lounging area. Between laps, savor delicious local seafood at Ocean Grill or a signature cocktail at the Pool Bar.
Snorkeling & S.C.U.B.A.
The waters of Hulopo‘e Bay are a protected marine preserve, with snorkeling and diving spots that are among the best in Hawaii. The waters of this marine sanctuary are exceptionally clear, the beautiful coral reefs virtually undisturbed. It is common to see spinner dolphins and colorful tropical reef fish close to the shoreline, and humpback whales during the winter months.
Lana’i has been rated one of the top 10 snorkeling sites in the world and the Resort’s beach kiosk at Hulopo‘e Bay offers snorkeling equipment to enjoy Lāna‘i’s magical underwater world. Snorkels, fins and masks are offered on a complimentary basis to guests, and a wide selection of instruction as well as advanced snorkels and dives are offered daily.
With its protected bays and coves, Lāna‘i is the perfect location for first-time and experienced S.C.U.B.A. divers alike. From underwater coral grottoes and lava caves to safe encounters with tropical sea life, diving at Hulopo‘e Beach, the Cathedrals, Kaunolu or Three Stone is part of an unforgettable Lāna‘i experience. Weekly activities are offered, such as Introductory and One-tank Beach Dives, and for experienced divers, the Lāna‘i Two-tank Dive and Friday Drift Dive.
Surfing

Champion surfer and Lāna‘i resident Nick Palumbo, will teach beginners on longboards, while providing education on the history and cultures of the islands and the sport. Advanced lessons are also available on shortboards, for experienced surfers. Palumbo won the Hawaii State Championship, Junior Men’s Division and the Quicksilver Makahiki at Mahala.
