Events and inspirationGather friends and family in celebration of your union in a breathtaking setting. Whether you choose to say your vows surrounded by towering coconut palms, in an intimate garden in the afternoon or along the shore at sunset, Welcome receptionHost a welcome reception for friends and family at the Beach Tree Pool. This infinity-edge pool and surrounding spring-green lawns offer the perfect introduction to your tropical getaway celebration. Or you may choose to have a more casual family dinner on the beach with the help of a grill attendant. Guests can indulge in s’mores while watching the sun set on the horizon. Welcome your guests in Hawaiian style with a luau in the lava-terraced Hoku Theatre. Greeted with leis, guests will enjoy butler-passed mai tais and savour Hawaiian specialties cooked over a traditional fire pit. To complete the experience, a Polynesian dance showcase recounts the story of the Polynesian people as they moved across the Pacific, culminating with a fire dance. CeremonyChoose from a variety of distinct locations, each reflecting an element of the Hawaiian landscape – the rocky bluffs at the Wedding Tree overlooking glassy ocean waters, a classic breezy white-sand beach, the lush tropical gardens of Palm Grove, or Hoku Theatre with its unique black lava terrace. Traditional elements, such as an exchange of leis or the blowing of the conch, can be incorporated into your ceremony. Officiants can provide a range of services, from a full Hawaiian ceremony to traditional or non-denominational services. ReceptionThe Resort offers a number of distinctive, memorable venues for your wedding reception. Hoku Theatre, a unique terrace and amphitheatre carved from rugged lava, is a dramatic location ideal for a themed celebration. When evening sets in, stars and flickering Hawaiian tiki torches create a romantic, dramatic atmosphere. For private receptions, Garden Lawn offers an intimate location surrounded by vibrant seasonal foliage. The oceanfront setting of Pahu i’a restaurant is the perfect setting to mingle and dine with guests as a brilliant island sunset unfolds in the background. The ocean motif continues inside, with the restaurant’s stunning centrepiece and namesake, a brilliant aquarium. The Hualalai Ballroom offers a more traditional setting for receptions, with rich dark woods and classic decorative touches. It offers flexible space, with adjacent pre-function foyers and open-air lanais. For a unique island touch, your guests can be summoned to the evening’s events in true Hawaiian style. As the sun sets, an entertainer in traditional Hawaiian dress blows a conch and, brandishing a blazing torch, lights tiki torches, leading guests to the reception location. BrunchAfter the wedding, gather family and friends for a post-wedding brunch on the Garden Lawn, an intimate setting surrounded by monkey pod trees, plumeria and red hibiscus. Pahu i’a restaurant offers private dining for up to 30 people in a relaxed ocean-side setting with a residential feel. Post-wedding and other eventsGuests can make the most of their time in paradise by exploring the rich landscapes of the Big Island before or after your wedding. A golf outing is a perfect place for attendants to bond before the big day. The Resort’s 18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature Hualalai Golf Course features 7,100 yards of brilliant green seaside fairways contoured against black lava. Nature enthusiasts enjoy the island’s craggy bluffs and lush tropical foliage, which offer excellent rock climbing and hiking opportunities. Guests can also take to the water with the help of Alaka‘i Nalu, our ocean ambassadors. These “leaders of the waves” offer professional instruction and guidance for a number of ocean adventures, including customised canoe trips, swimming and paddle-boarding ironman workouts, surfing and offshore fishing. Along with their professional skills in water sports, they share their love and knowledge of Hawaiian culture and ocean life. Your wedding professional can suggest activities to meet the interests and activity levels of your guests. |
