Hiking and skiing

Geneva is perfectly situated for skiing in the winter or alpine hikes in the warmer months. The closest place to ski, Mégève, in France, is only a 75 minute drive from Geneva. Chamonix, at the foot of Mont Blanc, is an hour away from Geneva. Mont Blanc, at 4,807 metres (15,770 feet)and the crown jewel of the French Alps and Europe’s highest mountain, is also a pleasant drive from the Hotel. Other nearby mountains in France’s Haute Savoie region include Les Voirons, Le Môle and Le Salève.

From April to October, the summit of Le Salève can be reached via a 15-minute tram ride from downtown Geneva, followed by a three-minute ascent in a cable car. Hikers enjoy incomparable views - Geneva, the distant Jura Mountains to the north, and the Alps and Mont Blanc to the south.

Water sports

Sailing is the most popular sport in Geneva, and there are plenty of opportunities for waterskiing as well.
