OFF-SITE ACTIVITIES

Within a 5-minute walk of the Hotel

Denver Center for the Performing Arts

Founded in 1972 and dedicated to excellence in the arts, The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is a showcase for live theatre, a nurturing ground for new plays, a preferred stop on the Broadway touring circuit, an award-winning multimedia production facility, a national training school for actors and the site of a voice clinic and research facility. It is just steps away from Four Seasons Hotel Denver.

Within a 15-minute drive of the Hotel

Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Nestled in the Rocky Mountain Foothills 15 miles (24 kilometres) west of Denver, there stands a symbol of nature’s unparalleled majesty. Red Rocks is a geologically formed, open-air amphitheatre that is not duplicated anywhere in the world. With Mother Nature as the architect, the design of the amphitheatre consists of two 300-foot (91-metre) monoliths (Ship Rock and Creation Rock) that provide acoustic perfection for any performance. The area of Red Rocks, originally known as the Garden of Angels, has attracted the attention of musical performers since before the turn of the century. The majestic setting of the amphitheatre, along with the panoramic view of Denver, makes for a breathtaking scene.

Within a 45-minute drive of the Hotel

Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park

The village of Estes Park is 7,522 feet (2,293 metres) above sea level and is surrounded by mountains. Picturesque and tourist-friendly, Estes Park is popular with travellers during summer, but spring, fall and winter are also great times to visit. Rocky Mountain National Park, which is the main show in the neighbourhood, borders the town of Estes Park. The park flaunts its rugged beauty with columbine-covered meadows, shimmering turquoise lakes, inviting streams and awesome views of craggy, snow-capped peaks. During the fall, elk mating season at Rocky Mountain National Park fascinates visitors. At dusk, bulls bugle and battle as they compete for rank. Observers may also see mule deer, or the occasional bear. Summer brings out alpine wildflowers, campers, backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts in general. Serious climbers may want to attempt Longs Peak, the highest mountain within the boundaries of Rocky Mountain National Park. At 14,255 feet (4,345 metres), Longs Peak is one of Colorado’s more difficult “fourteeners” to scale. Ponderosa pines, grand peaks, majestic elk and emerald terrain create a wondrous place. Meander down a quiet trail, relax beside a clear mountain lake, or get a workout by gaining elevation on one of the climbs. With more than 350 miles (563 kilometres) of hiking trails, you could spend a lifetime exploring the park’s paths and woods.

Within a 1 hour drive of the Hotel

Central City and Black Hawk, Colorado

Once called the “Richest Square Mile on Earth,” Central City and Black Hawk are two historic old mining towns from the 1870s that have come alive. Located 34 miles (55 kilometres) west of Denver, the two towns offer more than 30 casinos with over 10,000 slot machines, blackjack tables and poker games. The two cities are also known for having some of the best-preserved Victorian architecture in the West. Other attractions include the Teller House Hotel, where President Grant once stayed, and the Central City Opera House, which still features an outstanding summer season of opera. There are mine tours, mining museums and several places offering instruction in the fine art of gold panning – in streams where a half billion dollars’ worth of the coveted, shiny metal was found.

Within a 2 hour drive of the Hotel

Glenwood Springs

Located at the foot of spectacular Glenwood Canyon and next door to the Colorado River, Glenwood Springs boasts the world’s largest natural outdoor hot-springs pool. Relax in the steamy, soothing waters as you gaze out on the mountainous backdrop. Before it became known for its resort atmosphere, this area was the meeting place for the Utes, who called the region Yampah, which means “big medicine.” Today, you can indulge in a massage or herbal whirlpool at the Yampah Spa and Vapor Caves. The town’s Hotel Colorado is known for its historic stateliness. When Theodore Roosevelt stayed here in 1905 after hunting bear in the area, the grand lodge came to be called the “Little White House of the West.” One story says that hotel maids fashioned a bear from fabric after Roosevelt’s unsuccessful hunt, hence the origination of the teddy bear. The Hotel Denver, located across from the train station, began as a boardinghouse. Today, the renovated lodge has its own brewpub. The region offers a wealth of sports activities that include golf, rafting and fishing during summer, and skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing during winter. A driving tour features extensive recommendations for sight-seeing attractions, recreational activities, lodging, restaurants, shopping and more, and a nighttime visit to the hot springs is a good end to any day.

WEATHER

Visitors to Denver are pleasantly surprised by its climate, which features a relatively small amount of annual rainfall and more than 300 days of sunshine each year. Summers are not too humid, which makes for beautiful days and comfortable evenings, while mild winters mean that snow often melts away quickly, allowing golf courses and outdoor cafés to remain open year-round.

Within view of the Rocky Mountains, Four Seasons Hotel Denver will accommodate events for up to 500 people, with 16 fully equipped function rooms. Click to view room details and floor plans.

ON-SITE RESTAURANTS

EDGE

EDGE, the signature restaurant of Four Seasons Hotel Denver, offers an extensive wine selection and a varied menu. EDGE is available for complete restaurant buyouts, based on restaurant availability (blackout dates may apply).

Private Dining

EDGE offers three smartly designed, glassed-in private dining areas, one featuring a carving station with views into the visually appealing chef's kitchen. The décor in EDGE is stunning, with a variety of marble and hardwood, and a focal point of a large, geometric stacked stone wall. With numerous pieces of original art decorating the space, including several abstract paintings and several sculptures, dining in EDGE resembles dining in an intimate gallery setting. The restaurant also offers a popular brunch menu with a dessert buffet.

Grilled to Perfection

Unique to EDGE is a custom-made stainless steel wood-burning grill. All of the meats at EDGE are grilled to perfection over pecan wood. Many of the vegetables also are wood-grilled, as well as some of the tapas on the bar menu, such as the wood-fired elk pizzetas. In a market where most of the steaks are cooked under broilers, EDGE’s wood-burning grill is a true asset and delivers a distinct flavour to the cuisine. Grilling classes are a wonderful option for groups. In the summer months, Chef Simon Purvis offers a popular “Simon Says” summer grilling series on the EDGE patio. This option can be customized for groups and can be held indoors in the banquet kitchen for larger groups.

Burger Bar

Burgers and shakes are American favourites, and with this retro-themed lunch option, our team sets up a diner-style event with grilled-to-order burgers and on-site freshly blended milkshakes. Burgers are a favourite at EDGE, and Chef Simon is known for his Kobe beef burger. Hear why Simon prefers Kobe beef as his favourite burger in this video about the Denver Burger Battle. Picture our team wearing 1950s-style paper hats, jeans and T-shirts with sleeves rolled up, counter-top seating, and vintage napkin holders and other elements that make the team feel like they're dining in an authentic 50s diner. Hand-cut fries, homemade potato chips and custom sauces, plus root beer floats or Coke floats, make the diner theme a hit.

image

Denver Deli

An upscale deli lunch can be a big hit, especially when the sandwiches are made-to-order and include the freshest possible deli meats, sliced while the guest waits and assembled to perfection according to the guest's specifications. If a VIP has a favourite sandwich, that can be a highlight offered on a chalkboard menu. Assorted homemade potato chips are flavoured with EDGE seasoning, and an astounding variety of breads, from marble rye and classic white to the hoagie, ensures everyone's sandwich is exactly what they wish for. Sandwiches can be customized based on the group's origination, such as offering a crab cake sandwich or a lobster roll for the East coast crowd. To-go boxes can be offered for a quick, easy lunch.

image

Colorado Rockies

Baseball, America's favourite pastime, can also make the perfect lunch or meeting break. Theme your event with the Colorado Rockies with baseball-inspired snacks, from peanuts and crackerjacks to all-beef gourmet hot dogs, pretzels and more. Our team members can dress in Colorado Rockies theme uniforms (or your home team uniforms!) and sports-related props can make the room fun. Our team can also create to-go bags or boxes for the group to enjoy en route or during a Rockies game.

image

Good or Good For You

This break features the best of both worlds. The "Good" section is full of sweets, ranging from giant Hammond's lollipops that create a colourful display and a candy bar buffet with retro candies such Whoppers and Baby Ruths as well as chocolate-covered pretzels, cotton candy and more. The "Good for You" section features healthier items, such as fresh fruit on skewers, muffins, trail mix, and more. Hammond's is a local Denver candy company established in the 1930s, and a tour of Hammond's can also be a fun activity for smaller groups.

MEET THE CHEFS

Executive Chef Simon Purvis

From Berlin to Singapore, Executive Chef Simon Purvis has immersed himself in the local cuisine and developed his menus around tastes that were already familiar there. At EDGE, he creates menus that give local clientele a reason to come back often, and a way for our guests from afar to taste things that they can’t get back home.
