  • The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is a professional golf tournament on the PGA TOUR, held every year at Pebble Beach, California. In 2013, the tournament will be held from February 4th to 10th.

  • Gamble Garden is a non-profit community horticultural foundation located in Palo Alto. The Spring Tour event will take place Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28, 2012. 
  • The Rivers of Chocolate Festival is Northern California's premier chocolate-tasting event. It will be held at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California, on Sunday, April 29, 2012.

May

  • Run through the streets of San Francisco and Golden Gate Park, Bay to Breakers is the world's largest road race. The event will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2012.
  • Over Memorial Day weekend, San Francisco Cultural Arts Traditions (SFCAT) sponsors San Francisco Carnaval's Grand Parade and Festival, which runs down Harrison Street between 16th and 22nd streets.

June

  • Sunset Magazine hosts their annual Celebration Weekend from June 2 to 3, 2012. 
  • Held in Santa Clara, the USA Swimming Grand Prix Meet is a two-day event hosting world-class athletes from around the United States. 
  • Celebrating local wineries and restaurants, the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Festival takes place over two weekends in June. In 2012, the festival will be held on June 2nd and 3rd, and June 9th and 10th. 
  • The Randy Cross Invitational Golf Tournament has been attracting celebrities and sports enthusiasts alike since 1984. In 2012, it will be held on Monday, June 11th. 
  • Commencement week festivities celebrate Stanford University graduates. Stanford's 121st Commencement Weekend will take place from June 14 to 17, 2012.
  • The Silicon Valley International Triathlon features a 1.5-kilometre (0.9-mile) swim, a 40-kilometre (25-mile) bike ride, and 10-kilometre (6-mile) run. The event takes place on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Almaden Lake Park in San Jose, California. 
  • Concourse d'Elegance in Palo Alto is a classic car show and drive featuring private collections, choppers and more. The event takes place on Sunday June 24, 2012, at Stanford University.

July

  • Played at Stanford Tennis Pavilion from July 9 to 15, 2012, the Bank of the West Classic is the world's longest-running women-only tennis tournament.
  • The SEMICON West convention is the premier venue for reaching the global semiconductor and flat-panel display industries. In 2012, it will be held from July 10th to 12th. 
  • Music@Menlo is a three-week chamber music festival in Atherton, with live concerts and jam sessions daily. The festival runs from July 20 through August 11, 2012.
  • The Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim is one of the most popular events in the area. In 2012, it will be held on Saturday, July 28th.

August

  • The annual Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Reunion is described as a museum springing to life. Approximately 550 vehicles will be accepted to compete in the motoring event, based on the car’s authenticity, race provenance and period correctness. The event will take place from August 17 to 19, 2012.
  • The Menlo Horse Show is a yearly charity horse show.

September

  • Stanford University football home games will take place on the following Saturdays in September: September 1 (vs. San Jose State); September 8 (vs. Duke University);  September 15 (vs. University of Southern California).
  • The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® 5K run/fitness walk raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. The race goes along the Embarcadero, starting and finishing at the Ferry Building, on Sunday, September 9, 2012.
  • The 36th annual Almaden Valley Art and Wine Festival is a family-oriented event that includes an arts and crafts show, wine and beer tastings, and entertainment. The events takes place on September 16, 2012, at Almaden Lake Park. 
  • The Palo Alto Weekly Moonlight Run and Walk offers 3-mile (4.8-kilometre) and 6-mile (9.6-kilometre) courses over the Palo Alto Baylands levee and through the marshlands by the light of the harvest moon.

October

  • Rodin by Moonlight, the much acclaimed biennial fundraiser for the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University, benefits the Cantor Arts Center’s educational programs and exhibitions.
  • Stanford University’s Reunion Homecoming Weekend takes place from October 4 to 7, 2012.
  • Stanford University football home games will take place on the following Saturdays in October: October 6 (vs. Arizona); October 27 (vs. Washington State).
  • San José's Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon will take place on October 7, 2012.
  • Taking place at Pier 39, at Beach Street and the Embarcadero, Fleet Week in San Francisco will be held during the second week of October. 
  • The Bridge School Benefit Concert is organized by musician Neil Young and his wife, Pegi. The concert is an annual, all-acoustic, non-profit charity event held every October at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View. All proceeds directly benefit the operations of The Bridge School, an organization dedicated to educating children with severe speech and physical impairments.
  • The Great Glass Pumpkin Patch event features thousands of one-of-a-kind, hand-blown glass pumpkins crafted by more than 30 artisans, as well as torch-working demonstrations and opportunities to learn about the glass-blowing process from the artists themselves.

November

  • A Stanford University football home game will take place on Saturday, November 10, 2012 (vs. Oregon State).
  • Run Wild For A Child, benefiting the San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program, hosts the 27th Annual Thanksgiving Weekend 10K/5K Run.

December 

  • For two weeks during the holiday season, Christmas Tree Lane (1705 Fulton Street) in Palo Alto features a lights and decorations display. Each night, the lights are turned on at 5:00 pm and off at 11:00 pm.
  • Christmas in the Park is a holiday tradition. Downtown San José’s Plaza de Cesar Chavez is transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with outdoor ice skating.
