STEVEN BAGLEY's

SoHo

This is My New York

“I am also a photographer, so when I have time I go where my lens takes me. The scenes in SoHo offer a variety of things to photograph, which makes spending time in this area so fascinating.”

  • 1. LA COLOMBE | 270 Lafayette St

I like to start my day at La Colombe, by far the best place in SoHo you can go to for an espresso or cappuccino. While you’re there, try the delicious almond croissant.

  • 2. SHOPPING ON PRINCE AND SPRING STREETS

As you wander along Prince and Spring, you will want to visit the vast variety of boutiques and specialty shops, including Chanel, Kate Spade, John Varvatos, Miu Miu and more.

  • 3. KID ROBOT | 118 Prince St

Kid Robot continues to amaze locals and tourists – with or without kids – with their unique toys, memorabilia and out-of-this-world T-shirts.

  • 4. PETROSINO SQUARE | Lafayette St at Kenmare St

After a long day of walking and shopping, it’s great to be able to sit somewhere where you can relax, enjoy the view of SoHo and watch the diverse people who pass by. Petrosino Square is a great park with plenty of benches to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

  • 5. BALTHAZAR | 80 Spring St

For lunch, I am a huge fan of Balthazar, which is a true icon in New York City. They serve fabulous French bistro fare that is the best you can eat this side of the Atlantic.

  • 6. PIZZERIA “NUMERO 28” | 196 Spring St

When time is of the essence and I just want a quick bite, I go to my favourite pizzeria, “Numero 28.” This spot serves great pizza, Roman style, which means they use the freshest ingredients and cut their pizzas into rectangles.

  • 7. TOPSHOP | 478 Broadway St

When it comes to trendy fashion, this British chain does not disappoint. I love to stop by from time to time just to look at the different styles they have for men and women.

  • 8. E. VOGEL | 19 Howard St

Looking for a pair of bespoke shoes or boots? Head over to E. Vogel, a little shop where they will make you custom shoes that never hurt your feet.

  • 9. PUBLIC | 210 Elizabeth St

I like to finish my day with a pleasant dinner and drink at Public, an Australian/American restaurant that serves a great assortment of appetizers, which I wash down with a glass of fine Australian Shiraz.

  • 10. THE BARREL ROOM | 155 Varick St

For late-night drinks, I’ll head to the Barrel Room. This café and tasting room is a great spot to grab a glass of on-tap wine with some close friends. For an appetizer, try their veal meatballs in a smoked tomato sauce.
