My Four Seasons

Sven Wiedenhaupt

It’s a delicate balance: how do you share the delights of Nevis with the world while preserving its “well-kept-secret” appeal? “There is a certain cache and small-town charm that the lack of glitz brings to the place,” observes Sven Wiedenhaupt, the recently appointed general manager of Four Seasons Resort Nevis. “I see it as a special opportunity for the only Four Seasons hotel in the Caribbean.”

Preserving and promoting an area’s authenticity is a skill that Wiedenhaupt has honed over 23 years of five-star luxury hotel management experience. Since joining the Four Seasons family in 2004 as Director of Food & Beverage at Four Seasons Hotel New York, he has been hotel manager at Four Seasons properties in Qatar and Damascus. Along the way, his love of fine dining, wine and fitness has developed into full-blown passions. One of the major perks of his new post: the Robert Trent Jones II golf course is only a three-minute walk from his office. (Be sure to ask him about the course’s signature hole 15, which features a 240-yard shot over a ravine to the fairway.)

The move from cosmopolitan cities to the simplicity of island life in Caribbean is a welcome one. “The people of Nevis have this genuine way of extending their hearts to make you feel instantly at one with the island,” he says. “My wife and I are excited about our next chapter here in paradise.”
