South Beach/Art Deco District
The historic Art Deco District in South Beach is jam-packed with some 800 colourful architectural treasures, built in the 1920s and 1930s and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The area is also famous for its beautifully restored hotels, trendy cafés and nightclubs, and of course, the beach.
Ocean Drive
Running along the east side of Miami's South Beach, iconic Ocean Drive is city's most famous street, and a must-see for any visitor. Art deco and art moderne architectual styles dominate the thoroughfare, which is lined with boutique hotels, bars, restaurants and lounges.
Downtown Miami
American and Latin cultures converge in downtown Miami, where Cuban-owned businesses are interwoven with the skyscrapers of a great American metropolis. With a history that dates back to the 19th century, the city's downtown core features some of Miami's oldest buildings.
Miami Beach
As well as beaches, world-class cuisine, designer fashions, and renowned nightclubs, Miami Beach offers visitors the largest collection of art deco architecture in the world.
Design District
Tucked into the historic Buena Vista neighbourhood, the Design District has a grid-like centre that makes it ideal for walking. Pop into the numerous fashion houses, art museums and restaurants, some run by Miami’s leading chefs.
Fairchild Tropical Park
Explore the largest tropical botanical garden in the continental United States, which features a lush oasis of orchids, vines, flowering trees, lily ponds, and a 2-acre (0.8-hectare) rainforest.
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens
Designed after a 300-year-old country Italian villa, the grandest construction project ever attempted in Florida is filled with paintings and decorative fine arts dating from the 15th to 19th centuries.
Arsht Center for the Performing Arts
Located 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) from the Hotel, the Arsht Center is the largest performing arts centre in Florida, and headquarters and home to the Florida Grand Opera and Miami City Ballet.
Lincoln Road Mall
Home to Miami's New World Symphony, this eight-block pedestrian mall – one of the city's most popular – features an attractive combination of outdoor cafés, boutiques, art galleries and theatres.
Little Havana
Known for its colourful shops, excellent restaurants and exclusive art galleries, Little Havana is considered one of Miami's cultural and social hotspots. The neighbourhood is home to the iconic art deco Tower Theatre, as well as a vibrant street life that includes numerous annual festivals.
Coconut Grove
Miami's oldest continuously inhabited neighbourhood, Coconut Grove was established in 1825 by a wave of immigration following the inception of the Cape Florida lighthouse. These days, the Grove is known for its village-like atmosphere and cultural diversity, which is reflected in the variety of cuisine available in the area's popular restaurants and open-air cafés.
Coral Gables
Home to the University of Miami, Coral Gables is pedestrian-friendly destination southwest of downtown Miami. Popular with shoppers and diners, the city is also notable for its original landmarks, which include the Merrick House and City Hall, as well as its Mediterranean Revival-style architecture.
Venetian Pool
Featuring the largest freshwater swimming pool in the United States, this historic outdoor pool complex in Coral Gables is complete with Venetian-style bridges, coral rock caves, waterfalls, shady porticos and a palm-fringed island. Sunbathers and swimmers have been visiting the pool since 1924, when it was built from an abandoned rock quarry.
Freedom Tower
Now a memorial to Cuban immigration in the United States, the Freedom Tower was built in 1925 to house the headquarters of The Miami News. Inspired by the Giralda bell tower in Seville, Spain, the tower is a National Historic Landmark sometimes used by Miami Dade College as a cultural and educational centre.
Botero Art Collection at the Hotel
Guests need only take a stroll around the Hotel to explore an art collection that opens a window on the artwork of Colombian figurative artist Fernando Botero, as well as a number of other Latin American artists. A detailed brochure is available to guide guests through the collection.

Key Biscayne
Connected to Miami by the Rickenbacker Causeway, the island of Key Biscayne lies south of Miami Beach along Florida's Atlantic coast. Island highlights include white-sand beaches, a variety of water sports, 800-acre (325-hectare) Crandon Park and the village of Key Biscayne.
Crandon Park Marina
On northern Key Biscayne, laid-back Crandon Park features a 3.5-mile (6-kilometre) beach that’s consistently rated in the country's top 10, as well as the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center.
AmericanAirlines Arena
Home of 2006 NBA championship team the Miami HEAT, AmericanAirlines Arena is Miami’s top sports and entertainment venue. Located on the waterfront in downtown Miami, the arena hosts sports, music, television and cultural events.
Marlins Park
Marlins Park, the new stadium for the newly named Miami Marlins, is the smallest ballpark in Major League Baseball, with a total capacity of less than 40,000 people.
Miami Sea aquarium
Conveniently located near downtown Miami, this world-class marine-life park offers eight different marine animal shows and fascinating daily presentations.
Brickell
Sometimes referred to as the Manhattan of the South, Brickell is Miami's financial centre, as well as a dense residential neighbourhood of luxury condominiums and high-rise towers. It's also home to many of Miami's most popular restaurants and shops.
Mary Brickell Village
A quiet and peaceful enclave within Miami's financial district, Mary Brickell Village offers a mix of upscale restaurants and shops, including the boutiques of famous high-end designers.
The Keys
The 1700 islands that make up the Florida Keys are famous for their striking natural beauty. The Keys can also be explored from over 120 miles (190 kilometres) of the Overseas Highway.
