Summer Itinerary

Dream it, then drive it

Have you ever wished you could tour Italy’s wine country in a classic Italian car? Hear the sweet sound of a finely tuned engine? Drop the top down on your convertible and feel the Tuscan breeze against your face?

  • Guided by our experts, drive a 1959 Fiat Cabriolet, a Lancia Aurelia or Fulvia, or even a 1955 Alfa Romeo Giulietta through winding country roads, with stops at some of Chianti’s most famous vineyards.
  • Visit Castellina to meet a professional photographer for your own photo shoot, with you behind the wheel of your classic car.

Let your palette lead you

What could be more Florentine? Artists from the Istituto per l’Arte e il Restauro (Institute for Art and Restoration) will conduct a fresco painting workshop in the Hotel’s garden, the largest private garden in Florence.

  • Learn to mix pigment colours by hand and watch as lime plaster is prepared to exacting standards.
  • Following one of the teacher’s designs, begin to construct your fresco, based on the original artwork found throughout the Hotel.
  • As you work together to create your masterpiece, other artists from the Istituto will document your work through sketches and paintings.
  • As the day ends, make your way to the Palazzo Pitti, where some of Italy’s foremost frescoes are displayed, and enjoy an intimate dinner.

Idyll of Bolgheri

Journey through the historic towns and scenic landscapes of the Etruscan Coast, where the shore is only the beginning of your discovery.

  • Emerge from a breakfast picnic on the pine forest floor to discover water so blue it seems like you’re in a dream.
  • Set off in your private convertible along the area’s “wine road,” a countryside of vineyards and olive groves famous for its great wines.
  • Along the way, stop to visit the Sassicaia and Ornellaia vineyards, which produce two of the most renowned wines in the world.
  • After lunch, continue your drive to Livorno for some leisurely shopping through the 17th-century neighbourhoods.

A Visit to the Five Lands

Spend a day in the beautiful Cinque Terre area, a natural park with five small, colourful towns, all on the hills of the Mediterranean Sea.

  • Drive to La Spezia, located less than two hours from Florence, and board the ferry to the Cinque Terre.
  • Arrive at Rio Maggiore and walk on the Via dell'Amore, a beautiful path that winds along the coast and arrives at Manarola.
  • In Manarola, try the famous testaroli with pesto Genovese as you take in the magnificent views.
