Family itinerary

Channel your inner Robinson Crusoe and let the adventures begin. Endless opportunities await at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo, with an abundance of outdoor activities offered both on and off the resort grounds.

Our Concierge can customize any itinerary just for you. Whether you’d like to go kayaking and on a nature hike to spot local wildlife, or  flying through the jungle and surf some of the best breaks in the world, we’d be happy to arrange it.

Day 1 – Welcome to Costa Rica

Afternoon

  • After a 40-minute scenic journey to the Peninsula, you will be greeted with juice and children’s amenities at check-in, just in time for lunch.
  • Put the kids in their swimsuits and lunch by the pool.
  • The poolside menu features fun treats for the kids, like frozen fresh fruit skewers and fruit smoothie shots.
  •  After lunch and a swim, get acquainted with the Resort.
  • Stop by the Kids For All Seasons play area to take a peek at the pool and the facilities, then walk to the Tuanis Teen Center and meet the teen Concierge.

Evening

  • Enjoy the live music at Tico’s, where kids can drink kiddie cocktails while you sip on a guaro sour or a jalapeno-and-pineapple-infused margarita – both local favourites.
  • At dinnertime, visit the Papagayo Restaurant with the entire family. All of our restaurants have children’s menus, and kids aged five and under eat free.
  • After dinner, check out Tuanis Teen Center to see what’s happening. Movies, Wii, computers, pool and other games are always available.

Day 2 – Monkeying Around

Morning

  • Morning wake-up calls are brought to you by the Peninsula’s own packs of howler monkeys swinging from the trees.
  • Join one of our experienced guides on an early morning nature hike.
  • Once you've worked up an appetite, try the wonderful breakfast buffet at Papagayo Restaurant and enjoy made-to-order omelettes and Latin breakfast specialties.
  • Lounge on the beach while the kids enjoy activities at Kids For All Seasons. Each week’s event schedule includes exciting adventures, crafts and educational experiences.

Afternoon

  • The kids can order lunch at Kids For All Seasons and eat with the other children, or join you poolside for bento box-style lunches.
  • Take the whole family on a trip to the Playa Prieta Beach Club, just 15 minutes away.
  • While there, take a surf lesson, swim in their exotic pools and sample their amazing sushi for a late-afternoon snack.
  • Teens may want to skip the Beach Club and book a BFF spa treatment instead.

Evening

  • Make reservations at Caracol. Golf clubhouse by day, steakhouse by night, this jewel of a restaurant is only 10 minutes from the Resort.
  • Certain outdoor tables have a wonderful view of the 18th hole of this Arnold Palmer Golf Course – see if they have one available.
  • After your main course, enjoy nightcaps and hot chocolate on the terrace, along with an amazing array of chocolate goodies for dessert.

Day 3 – Where the Wild Things Are

Morning

  • Enjoy breakfast on your outdoor terrace with freshly squeezed juices and fun pancakes for the kids. Today is full of adventurous excursions.
  • If you want to get an early start, join the morning snorkel sail or the guided kayak tour around the Peninsula.
  • If you’d like to take part in one of our exciting excursions, ask room service to pack you a lunch to bring along with you.

Day

  • Full- or half-day excursions can take you zip-lining through the jungle or rafting along a river, looking for exotic marine life and birds.
  • If you’ve decided to stay near resort, the poolside menu or Papagayo Restaurant are great choices for lunch.
  • The Trail of The Giants golf course tour offers an up-close look at the local flora and fauna, and you just might see the resident Iguana, blue morpho butterflies and white-faced or howler monkeys.
  • Later on, drop the kids off at Kids For All Seasons while you relax at the spa or play a round of golf at one of the best courses in Costa Rica.

Evening

  • Dine under the stars with the whole family at Congo’s Bar & Grill, where theme nights like the Churrascurria make dining fun.
  • Nights are clear and the stars are amazing, so grab a pool chair after dinner and just look at the sky – the constellations are incredible.
  • Drop the kids off at Tuanis or the Great Lawn, where they’ll be playing movies, and go relax at Tico’s with an after-dinner drink.
  • Parents who want a special night alone can dine at Di Mare, our romantic Italian Restaurant. Babysitting services are available, and the kids can order In-Room Dining.
