Steve Tillinghast

The King of Hospitality

Steve Tillinghast has worked at Four Seasons Hotel Boston as a doorman since the day the doors opened in 1985. He is often referred to as the “King of Hospitality”  because he has become one of the most well-known faces in Boston. People remember him: cars honk as they drive by, pedestrians shout and wave, and guests are won over as soon as they encounter him. He delivers top-notch customer service, but Steve’s true gift is spreading happiness with a joke or a smile. It’s easy to see that he shines at his job, which is one of the most important in the Hotel – he makes the first and last impression on guests as they enter and exit the front doors. Born and raised in Boston, he’s happy to make recommendations about attractions as well as his favourite parts of the hotel. Why does it all work so well? Steve puts it best: “I love people.”
