General information

Just 30 minutes north of San Diego, Carlsbad is known for its near-perfect weather and long stretches of uncrowded beaches. One of California’s most precious wetlands, Batiquitos Lagoon attracts more than 130 species of migrating birds, as well as naturalists from across the country. The many places of interest in Southern California offer choices for all ages. Adult attractions include the world-class California Center for the Arts, restored Spanish colonial missions, the thoroughbred racing centre of Del Mar, Old Town San Diego and La Jolla Playhouse, a venue for Broadway and Hollywood stars. Children love LEGOLAND, the Scripps Aquarium, SeaWorld and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. Outdoor activities – from hiking to hang-gliding and hot-air ballooning, and from sailing to whale watching – underscore the magic of Southern California.
