Hampshire
Recycling is an art form at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire. The Hotel’s recycling programme includes everything from cardboard and paper to glass. Perhaps the most labour-intensive recycling initiative relates to the maintenance of the 200-hectare (500-acre) property. Grass cuttings and fallen leaves are composted and used as fertiliser on the estate’s extensive flower beds and shrubs.
Dallas
Since 1992, Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas has supported local cancer facilities. So far, it has raised $2 million through a series of events called Four Seasons Cool October – a month of festivities including a run, a golf tournament, sports marathons, a dinner, an auction and a community raffle.
Golden Triangle, Thailand
Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is a haven for people. It is also a refuge for urban elephants. The Camp has rescued six adult elephants from city streets in Thailand and provides them with a humane environment at the Tented Camp.
Costa Rica
Each morning, a local Tico farmer pays a visit to Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica. He doesn’t come to deliver food – he comes to take it. The Resort donates all organic food waste to him so he can feed his animals, free of charge. This arrangement also helps the Resort reduce consumption of plastic bags.
Austin
In 1999, Executive Chef Elmar Prambs at Four Seasons Hotel Austin realised he could put his skill in the kitchen to good use by volunteering one night a week to cook for the 40-plus children and volunteers at the Austin Children’s Shelter. In 2002, he went a step further – he asked chefs at other Austin-area hotels to do the same.
At Four Seasons, corporate values are much more than a programme or a policy – they define who we are and inform the decisions we make. The company’s guiding principle is the Golden Rule – to treat others as you wish to be treated – and as such, Four Seasons strives to have a long-lasting, positive influence on the communities where we operate and on the people we employ and serve around the world. We believe that this goal is integral to our success as a company. This commitment is expressed consistently in our actions through three main areas of focus. By acting in a manner consistent with our corporate values, Four Seasons will continue to seek opportunities to enrich and contribute positively to the global community.
Building Communities
Four Seasons is committed to being a responsible and caring community partner by having a positive economic impact and supporting community goals, both within and outside the hotel. We engage in innovative training and mentoring programmes for young people, support those in need and celebrate the diverse cultures where Four Seasons operates.
Advancing Cancer Research
Four Seasons is committed to supporting both local efforts and broader campaigns whose goal is the eradication of cancer. Through the collective efforts of the company's hotels worldwide, Four Seasons annually raises significant funds and awareness for cancer research.
Supporting Sustainability
Four Seasons involves employees and guests in the common goal of preserving and protecting the planet. We engage in sustainable practices that conserve natural resources and reduce environmental impact. As importantly, sustainable tourism will enhance and protect the destinations where Four Seasons operates for generations to come.
